SCMC
During the summer of 1998, Bo Miller talked with a couple of Mustang enthusiasts about the creation of a car club for Mustang owners. They recognized that there were many Mustangs in the area, but they were never in the same place at the same time. Over the winter, as Bo read his Mustang Monthly magazines, he never lost the desire to start a club. In the spring of 1999, Bo picked a time, date and location for the first meet and handed out flyers at the Preston Plains Auto Show to all Mustang owners.

The first gathering of the Mustang Club of Southeastern Connecticut was held two weeks later at Auto Zone in Groton and consisted of three Mustangs. Bo was hoping to draw in new members, so he decided the club should meet in different locations to gain exposure and enlist new members. The club started to hold meets every two weeks at locations in Groton, Norwich, Baltic and Voluntown. Over the summer of 1999, the club picked up momentum and membership. The interest for a Mustang only car club had finally become a reality.

During the winter of 1999, the club elected officers, formalized by-laws and changed its name to the Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club. Members and officers voiced the desire to have a well-respected organization centered on friends and family. Our "Creed of Conduct" clearly states the proper behavior and image our club wants to project. Our motto, "Southeastern Connecticut Mustang Club - Where Family and Friends Come Together," is a true indication of the attitude and appeal of the club.

The Summer of 2002 is shaping up to be an excellent year for us. We currently have over 55 members. As we grow in size and recognition, many new events and meet locations are being added and the calendar is filling up. We usually meet at least every ten days to two weeks for various events, including a summer picnic. If you want to be a part of this exciting time, please check the Events Calendar and stop by one of our events.
